Dream for Gamer

Hi, today I describe dream that came true for me. It was built by Dream PC computer, designed for computer games I have loved since childhood. I even created some pictures I want to share with you here. I build my Dream PC from some old and new parts. Because I added parts for many years.

First I put everything on the table. All parts for my Dream PC. I use all the older parts. I clean very carefully with a paintbrush with natural bristles. So here is my building starting point. With all parts on table, everything clean and ready to use.

Then I started build it. For a first step, I put into Case, Motherboard, and Power Supply. Case is Thermaltake New Soprano Black, Motherboard is Asus Crosshair II Formula ROG and Power Supply is Thermaltake Thougpower Grand 750W. I know Motherboard is old, even very old; I bought it in 2008 if I remember correctly, but I really like Asus products, and this part works as new today. So why not use it to make my Dream PC? ;).

Now it is time to add Central Processor Unit and for CPU for my dream PC I also used old part. It is AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition 125W. I bought that CPU in 2012. This CPU is nice and fast for my proposal. I know there are better CPUs, but my dream is pretty enough :). I also use Zalman CNPS9900A LED for it.

Next I put 4 DDR2 modules. Those modules are Kingston HyperX 1066 CL5 (5-5-5-15) KHX8500D2K2/4G. I bought those RAM modules in 2012. And here is the source of magic. My CPU should work with a 3.4 GHz clock as 200 x17, but with those amazing RAM modules CPU works as 3.5 GHz, and it is 250! x14 :).

Next I put to the case main Hard Drivers for my system. I am using a RAID-0 array from that hard drivers. And like I said, I have 2 WD-Caviar WDC WD5002ABYS and both that hard drives I bought in 2009. You can see both of them in the right-bottom corner. On 2 top shelves for 3.5″ drives.

image

Now is time for new hard drive, bought in 2011, so modern one :P. It is WD Caviar WDC WD10EALX. I put it below RAID-0 hard drives.

image

Now it is time for Blu-Ray Writer. It is ASUS BW-16D1HT SATA and I bought it in 2013. So it is pretty new, and it is a very fast reader and writer. I put it on the right-top corner of picture.

image

Last and very old hard drive is Seagate ST 3160815A. It is the old backup hard drive. I think I bought it in 2003 :). But you know it still works and has an IDE interface :). So why not put it into my Dream PC? I put it on last available shelf for 3.5″ drives.

image

Now I can at last close back for pictures perspective and right for case perspective wall :). And I can start adding cards in slots.

image

First I put ASUS Supreme FX II, sound card that is part for the Motherboard. And it is small and,, if I remember correctly, can work up to 7.1 channel mode. I put it below CPU.

image

As you probably know I am huge fan of making software for Kinect for Windows and Kinect V2 for Windows sensors. And you probably know I have no USB3 ports in my Dream PC. So the next card is for that. It is ASUS W3S6 PCIe x4 card with 2 USB3 and 2 SATA3 ports.

image

It is time for the last part – Graphics Cards. I have 2 ASUS GeForce 560 GTX 1GD5 DirectCU II TOP. And that my whole, completed Dream PC looks like. when you remove the left case wall.

image

But you know the last step was not for Dream PC. Graphics cards are not my dream. I dream about something else :).

image

There are 2 ASUS GeForce 980 GTX 4GD5 Strix 0dB DirectCU II. And now it is my Dream PC :). And I put them both into the case.

image

Now it is time to play. Let’s start with GRID2 recorded in normal resolution to play with car crashing :).

And later I try DmC – Devil May Cry which is my favorite fight and smash game, with a really nice effects.

Both games works with 60 FPS VSync and experience is very cool. I also checked in Futuremark 3DMark Vantage, and I got P24956 points with a CPU Score: of 11225 and a Graphics Score: of 42139. See results in details. It should be enough to play any modern PC game. I like my Dream PC, and as you can see, I completed all parts a very long time. As a peripherals I also have 2 Microsoft Game Pads for Xbox 360 or PC – cable version,  Logitech G27 Wheel and of course Microsoft Kinect V2 for Windows. For display and sound, I am using Sony 42″ TV and Sony Home Theatre System, and for 3D, I am using NVidia 3D Play TV. I wonder what your experience with games is? Do you like play computer games like me?

  1. I never built a dream pc before, but i think its better to overclock your pc into your dream pc, but you need to find a solution for cooling it.

    • You know, the thing is that I do not want to use more electrical energy than I have to, so I do not want to change voltage of PC parts to overclock them, because then both environment and life-time of parts will suffer.

      • Yeah i totally agree with you, besides overclocking decreases the CPU lifetime and could easily melt if your cooler fails for any reason.
